Aspiring entrepreneurs from Bloomsburg and across the state will descend on Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg and have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges this week at the sixth annual Husky Dog Pound Competition. On Thursday, March 23, middle, high school, and university-level students will compete for $20,000 in prizes across two divisions.

This year, over 100 teams from 41 schools will compete in the middle and high school divisions, and seven teams from Bloomsburg University will compete in the college division. Teams will present a three-minute pitch on their business idea to a panel of judges, and be judged on marketability, feasibility, profitability, and presentation skills.

The competition is sponsored by the Zeigler College of Business, Michael L. Boguski ’85, president of Specialty P&C at ProAssurance, and Beth Ann Boguski; Matt Zoppetti, president of the Shangrila Development Corporation; and Roxana Zoppetti, owner of La Malbec Bar and Restaurant.
